Hypochlorous Acid (HOCL) has up to 60x the efficacy of other Chlorine Based disinfectants, while at the same time unlike most Chlorine Based products, it is non-corrosive and safe for human contact (it is actually produced by the human body in small quantities), making it the disinfectant of choice by the FDA for use in foggers.
Their is one glaring limitation to Hypochlorous Acid, and that is, its natural state, it can have limited shelf life. Additionally, while the ingredients involved in making HOCL are inexpensive (salt and water), the equipment for commercial HOCL generators is expensive. The result is that commercially bottled pre-made HOCL solutions can be very costly.
Our HOCL generator provides a solution for those who need relatively small quantities of disinfectant (2L capacity). By purchasing your own HOCL generator, you can make your own Hypochlorous Acid with just water and iodine free salt (Kosher Salt).
Our HOCL generator has 3 preset one-touch modes for 5, 15 and 30 minutes.

We ran and independent test on our HOCL generator, as we do with all products we sell, using approximately half of the salt as recommended in the instruction manual.
Using one of the included scoops of Kosher Salt (15mg) and filling to the unit up to the 2000 ML line then testing with chlorine strips this is what we found.
Please note the Chlorine Test Strips we used measured in 50PPM increments, so we were not able to get exact readings
15g 2L at 5 minutes approximately 50ppm of HOCL
15g 2L at 10 minutes approximately 100ppm of HOCL
15g 2L at 30 minutes approximately 200ppm of HOCL
50-70 ppm has a disinfection contact time of 3 minutes 200ppm of HOCL has a disinfection contact time of 1 minute.
Please note, as with all HOCL generators, at a high PH, this machine will generate Hypochlorite, which is the effective ingredient of household bleach (not the desired result). The ideal PH for producing HOCL is a PH range of 4-5.8. At that PH typically 100 of the solution produced will be HOCL, At a PH of 6, 90% of the solution will be Hypochlorous Acid and 10% will be Hypochlorite.
Our local tap water tested at a PH of 5.5. However the PH of tap water can very by location. Additionally, the electrolysis process can raise the PH of the water. In order to lower the PH, distilled vinegar or citric acid (lemon juice) can be added.

We have had a number of people contact us and wondering if this HOCl Generator can produce a higher concentration than 200ppm. The answer is it can. We focused on 200ppm because based on studies (cited in our blogs), for disinfecting, 200ppm gives you the shortest approved dwell time of 1 minute.
For our initial videos, we only used half the recommended amount of salt, as that is all that was necessary for the goal we were trying to achieve.
If you want to make a higher concentration, you can including up to an over 1000ppm. You can achieve this by adding more salt, or running for a longer cycle, or a combination of both. We have included another set of videos to demonstrate this. Please note, our chlorine test strips only test up to 500ppm. You are supposed to wait 60 seconds before checking the color on the test strips. The picture at the end, shows what it looked like (color is not as clear on the video)
